The Alcapurrias are really good. I'm been here every week. You have to try the "pulpo con carrucho" with " tri-fongo".

I am so sad to give 2 stars to a restaurant I had high hopes for. I have been trying to go the PR spot in Pembroke Pines but they seem to always be closed. They also have similar business names, are they related? Who knows. This is located in Hollywood and not in the best of places. It's in a stand alone little cafe building which I found rather cute. There is plenty of parking as nobody was there, which made me worry. As you walk in, you have to walk to register where the employee will hand you a menu. What I noticed was their modern register (lol). You can tip and sign from the front mini screen. After you place your order, you choose a seat and they will bring it out to you. If this place was busy, how would they know who ordered what and sat where? The employee (not waitress as orders are placed at registers they just bring it to you) bought out our food which looked good but I was sad to notice they are on plastic plates. That is a lot of trash and not very environmentally friendly! The mofongo was good and had a garlic taste to it. It was much dryer than what I preferred, though. The pork chunks were also good and they definitely give a lot so I was able to take most of it home. My boyfriend had pork chops with rice and beans. He said his rice was hard as it might have been from the bottom of the pan. My boyfriend is obsessed with spanish food and he wasn't saying much so I knew he wasn't impressed. The food was just your basic spanish food, nothing that really stood out to me. I was hoping this food would take me back to feeling like I was home but it didn't. When it was time to pack up, I needed to-go boxes and I had to go to register to request them. I keep saying "excuse me" and the girl finally realized I was standing there and took her headphones out. If you have customers in the store, you should not have headphones on loud enough that you are not aware of your surroundings or have them on at all. For the drive, location, lack of impressing in food, I can probably say I won't be back. I can just have Cuban food around my area and it will taste better.

I will start by saying that the food was good but nothing above the top. The service lived up to the reviews listed before mine. It was not bad but it just wasn't good enough.

4 stars for the food. 1 star for the service. Took 45 minures to get mofongo with chichoron de pollo and stuffed tostones with lechon. 1 coke and a malta. $20. Mofongo was very tasty and well put together with good spice and the right amount of chichoron. However no garlic or creole sauce was offered. The chichoron de pollo was very tasty, but cold due to late delivery. Stuffed tostones were very tasty. The lechon was delicious and the tostones were crispy and not oily at all. I received my tostones about 10 minutes before my wifes mofongo. The food is good but the service is really bad. They need to get the front of the house together. My wife went to check on the food and gave her ne to the girl who toll our order 30 minutes before and the lady said she didnt have an order under my wifes name. When my wife (dagmar) read off the order the lady said "oh, you mean lagma"? Umm yeah, 2+2 =4! She also didnt really seem to care about anything. Ive eaten here before a few times and to he honest the service is better when its slow but still not as good as it needs to be. Ive had the churri and tripleta here as well. I didnt care for it. Ive eaten a bunch in the pr and theybdont stack up. The meat needs to be chopped better and get rid of some of the harder chewy fat pieces.

I so wanted this place to work. On my last visit I ordered a dish on the menu and they said they did not have that. okay I can do that one time but three times I ordered dishes and they said they didn't have it. Where are the standards of running a restaurant and the time that I went there wasn't late at night. it was 1 o'clock in the afternoon. In the past i raved about this place to all my friends being that they have some awesome Puerto Rican food. Now it makes me think twice about giving a recommendation to my friends On this particular Puerto Rican restaurant.

If you are latín, Hispanic or close to it, you have to go. If you are from Puerto Rico you better go! This has to be the closest you will get to the island of Puerto Rico in regards to the best cuisine ever. Great tasting food and great fast service. Once you come and enjoy, you will return, we do!

Went to Casaborinquen with my mom today. The food was very good and was served quickly. The staff was very nice. Now comes the bad. (1)The prices would be fine if, the food was served on real plates with real silverware. Having to stand in line to pay and then get a table, not cool. The food should be served and if you needed something more to drink, you have to go back in line and get what ever you want. Very sad it wasn't as good as Puerto Rico. Best of luck. Ariel

WOW!! Being from PR I am very critical of my food and I must say they really delivered. We had 3 dishes that were all delicious but the Tripleta was fantastic! We will be going back for more soon.

The food really is good. We ordered the chuleta kan kan which comes out with mofongo which was really good. The chuleta was a little dry but still good. We also ordered a shrimp platter which comes with mofongo. Both platters come with salad with NO dressing. We also ordered arroz con gandules and 2 alcapurrias of jueyes and 1 of meat. All very tasty!! The bad part is the lack of organization. We first went to their Pembroke Pines locations which was closed for the day due to a "chinchorreo" according to a sign on the door. A party of sorts. So the Hollywood location was crowded. All tables were taken. People were outside as well since they had a DJ and activities out in the parking lot. Not sure how often they do this chinchorreo, whether it's once a month or once a year or every Friday. Anyway, we stood in line for about 15 min to place our order. Then we sat down. It took about 20 to 30 minutes for ONE alcapurria to come out. No drinks were brought to the table at this point. We reminded them that we were waiting for 2 other alcapurrias. Well they slooooowly brought them out to our table, one by one. Our order came out one by one as well. The rice came out somewhere in between. The drinks finally came out after all the food after we reminded them twice about it. The worst part is when your food finally comes out, the waitress has no clue where you are sitting or who placed what order? They have no system in place to track people's orders. So they stand in the middle of the restaurant and yell out your name. If no one claims the food they go table to table asking if you are so and so. Very unprofessional and awkward. Never seen anything like it. I wonder how many people have eaten other people's order? And how can you dispute it if someone eats your food? They don't give you a receipt when you pay. As you can imagine, it can get a little confusing and loud in there. Then, lucky for us (but unlucky for those who were standing in line) one of the women working behind the counter told the people standing in line that they were not able to take any more orders. What? Not sure why. I couldn't hear. They either ran out of food or maybe the orders were so backed up they wanted a chance to catch up. So people left. If we do go back, it will be like on a Monday or Tuesday afternoon where hopefully all of the above won't happen again. We'll see.

I was so dissapointed. We ordered alcapurria de jueyes y empanada de carne. They were okay. We also ordered mofongo with carne frita. The mofongo had no taste. The fried pork chunks did not have taste either. I am not going back to this place again. For me it was not worth it.

My husband and I decided to go out last Thursday for dinner. And we decided to go to Casa Borinquen. The place is clean, The staff is very friendly. To start off we order two alcapurrias one jueyes and the other one carne. And of course two Medallas. My husband for his entrée ordered the bistec encebollado with rice, beans and tostones. And ordered the chicharon de pollo con mofongo. We got our entrees first. The food was perfectly seasoned, good flavor. Later, Marilyn the cook came to our table with the alcapurrias. Made by her. And told us about the other restaurant at the mall. She talk to us for a little bit. Also offered us to taste the pulpo salad and dulce de coco. Needless to say I will definitely go back to eat there!

Finally, a Puerto Rican restaurant in Broward with quality food. I have been here a few times now, and the food has been consistently good. It does not have a large menu, but if what I have had, it has had authentic favors. First off, the mofongo was the first thing I tried here. I went with the classic combo of pairing it with carne frita. The carne frita is delicious. Well seasoned, crispy outside and very tender inside. A+ for the carne. The mofongo was also well seasoned with good garlic notes. The one thing no I felt missing in the mofongo was the crunch from chicharron. Otherwise, very solid dish. I've also had the alcapurria, good ratio of meat to mass, and good flavors. Arroz con gandules was solid as well. Today, I had the tripleta sandwich. Again, another solid entry. Tonight, they have a special event starting at 8pm. They have food and drinks outside. Picnic tables, dominos tables, DJ, and live music. Sponsored by who else...Gasolina. So far, a good turnout of people. My suggestion come out and enjoy!

Been there multiple times, finally found good mofongo outside of Puerto Rico. Have to show them appreciation because I am a vegan now and they adjust their dishes to accommodate me. Tostones rellenos my family enjoys, alcapurias, yuca, and mofongo. Everything we've tried we've enjoyed.

We were pleasantly surprised. I tried the Jibarito sandwich with steak. It was delicious! My hubby tried the Jibarito burger. He loved it. The kids chicken dish was also great for my son. The quantity and quality of the food was great. The prices are also reasonable. Highly recommend.
